Benfica coach keen on Coentrao return

Benfica boss Jorge Jesus has revealed his desire to bring Portugal international Fabio Coentrao back to the Estadio da Luz.

The 25-year-old left the Primeira Liga club to join Real Madrid in July 2011, but made just 16 Liga starts last term as he failed to regularly oust Marcelo at left-back.

And Jesus says he is open to the idea of the defender returning to Benfica again next season, should he decide to leave the Bernabeu in order to secure first-team football.

I would really like to have Coentrao, he told Marca. Fabio is a player that the fans love and we all got him to grow when few believed in him.

Coentrao, who reportedly cost Real Madrid €30 million, won the 2010-11 Portuguese title and two Taca da Liga s during his four years at Benfica.

He has since added a La Liga winners medal to his collection in his time in the Spanish capital.

The Portuguese was voted into the Euro 2012 team of the tournament after helping his country into the semi-finals.
