data-mm-id=”_iilhea76z”>Josh Allen has led the Buffalo Bills to the playoffs for the second straight year. The third-year quarterback has made a huge leap in 2020, winning 12 games for Buffalo while establishing himself as an MVP candidate and throwing for 4,544 yards with 37 touchdowns to only 10 interceptions. Most importantly, Allen has dramatically improved his accuracy, posting a 69.2 percent completion percentage compared to a 58.8 percent mark in 2019. Regardless of what happens to the three-seed Bills during the postseason, Allen has proven beyond any shadow of a doubt that he is the franchise's future. To whit, Ian Rapoport reported this morning that Buffalo will approach Allen about a big contract extension this offseason. Allen still has two years remaining on his rookie deal, and Rap suggests Allen could become the highest-paid QB in the NFL. From @NFLGameDay: #Bucs QB Tom Brady plans to play in 2021 and expects it to be even better… while the #Bills will approach QB Josh Allen's agents about a potential huge contract extension this spring or summer. pic.twitter.com/5glxAax2rG— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 9, 2021Rapoport presumably meant that Allen could be the highest-paid QB by yearly salary, since nobody will be coming close to the total value of Patrick Mahomes' 10-year deal with the Chiefs at $450 million. Mahomes also currently makes the most out of any NFL quarterback on a yearly basis, with a $45 million annual salary. Could Allen make more than that? It is certainly possible. Mahomes' yearly value feels like it's actually on the lower end, considering he chose long-term security and to stay in Kansas City for a decade rather than signing a four-year deal for the max amount of money possible. The Bills love Allen, but only a playoff run of epic proportions would get them to even think about signing him to a deal longer than five years. With that in mind, the most recent quarterback to sign a big ol' extension was Deshaun Watson, currently embroiled in his own controversies in Houston. Over this past offseason Watson signed a four-year deal worth $156 million with $74 million fully guaranteed at a $39 million annual salary. That will be the baseline Allen's agents use to negotiate. Watson might be a better quarterback than Allen in a vacuum, but Allen has won more games and proved he was, at the very least, on Watson's level with his huge 2020 season. Allen should easily eclipse Watson's $39 million annual salary. It's not a stretch to think he could even surpass Mahomes in that department. Each young, talented quarterback is paid more than the last. A four-year, $200 million contract with somewhere in the neighborhood of $80 million fully guaranteed is probably the ceiling for any new deal. With new TV deals coming up, the NFL will be more flush with money than ever. There is, of course, the small matter of how the salary cap is going to look, as Rapoport mentions. The cap usually jumps a good amount each year, but the league and each of its franchises lost a lot of money this year with no fans in the stands. At best, the cap will jump minimally, and realistically it'll be the same as this season. That puts a natural limitation on how much Allen could negotiate because the team, as much as they want to sign a deal, doesn't want to completely eliminate their financial flexibility in the process. That could mean this will be a funky deal. We see front-loaded and back-loaded contracts all the time, but not for quarterbacks. Those are straightforward. If the Bills want to give Allen his due without destroying their cap sheet, they could give him a massively backloaded deal in terms of his salary to minimize the cap hit with a whole lot of money up front as a signing bonus. If both sides are willing to tango, they could get real creative with the structure of the extension. All in all, Allen will be in line to make more than $40 million a year with the new extension. We know that for a fact. If it'll be more than Mahomes' $45 million probably depends on how Allen and his team perform in the playoffs this year. If they lose early in the playoffs, Allen will still make $40 million a year, but that might be it. If he makes a run, though? If Allen can lead the Bills to their first playoff win since 1995 or their first conference championship game since 1993? The sky will be the limit.

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho says the dismissal of Thomas Tuchel came as a surprise , revealing the Blues players feel partly responsible for his exit.
The German coach was axed last week in the aftermath of a surprise defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, which followed on from Premier League losses against Southampton and Leeds United during an underwhelming start to the season.
Chelsea moved quickly to appoint Graham Potter as Tuchel s successor at Stamford Bridge, with their first game under his guidance coming on Wednesday against Salzburg.
With last week s Premier League action postponed following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Tuesday s pre-match news conference represented the first opportunity for questions on the managerial change.

Milan striker Robinho has been named as Diego Costa s replacement for Brazil s upcoming friendlies with Honduras and Chile.
The 2014 FIFA World Cup hosts face Honduras in Miami on November 16, before taking on South American rivals Chile in Toronto on November 19.
Head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari had intended to select Atletico Madrid striker Costa following a fine start to the season that has seen him score 13 goals in all competitions.
However, Costa turned down the call of his homeland, signing a letter to the Brazilian Football Confederation (CFB) declaring his intention to use his Spanish citizenship to play for the world and European champions.
Costa s decision has seen Robinho drafted in by Scolari, with the 29-year-old in line to win his first cap since 201…
QPR s financial records show the club made a loss of £9.8million for the financial year ending May 2014.
Premier League strugglers QPR have announced losses of £9.8million for the financial year ending May 2014.
Following relegation from the top flight in 2012-13, the Loftus Road club bounced straight back via the play-offs last season, but are just one place above the drop zone, ahead of Burnley and Aston Villa on goal difference.
The club s records showed a loss of almost £10m, although expenditure has been significantly lessened and £60m worth of debt has been written off.
Expenditure was reduced by £22m, mainly driven by lower player costs and this trend will continue in future years as the club will continue to bring losses down, a statement r…
This has been a very interesting year for Dean Henderson. The 22-year-old goalkeeper got promoted with Sheffield United to the Premier League and then returned for the new season with the Blades, this time in the top flight. That has worked out perfectly for him, as he had some incredible performances so far, coming off the back of his U21 Euro 2019 campaign with England.
But it looks like Henderson, who is Manchester United player on loan at Sheffield United, might actually change the club this coming summer. According to the ESPN, Henderson is being targeted by Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain for a potential transfer this summer.
Henderson has emerged as one of the Premier League s top goalkeepers this season and he might even be important for England at EURO 2020 thi…
Lionel Messi s inspirational form through February has seen the Barcelona captain collect his first Player of the Month award of the season.
February was Messi s most fruitful month of the 2020-21 campaign to date as he scored seven goals, two more than he managed in January.
No player scored more than him, while Real Sociedad s Alexander Isak was the only other individual to net more than four times in the month.
Messi s goalscoring habits helped Barca win four of their five games in the qualifying period, all of which saw him score at least once.
As such, Barca have improved their chances of potentially sparking a genuine title scrap in the final months of the season, with the Blaugrana only five points adrift of the leaders Atletico Madrid.

Benfica boss Jorge Jesus has revealed his desire to bring Portugal international Fabio Coentrao back to the Estadio da Luz.

And Jesus says he is open to the idea of the defender returning to Benfica again next season, should he decide to leave the Bernabeu in order to secure first-team football.
I would really like to have Coentrao, he told Marca. Fabio is a player that the fans love and we all got him to grow when few believed in him.
Coentrao, who reportedly cost Real Madrid €30 million, won the 2010-11 Portuguese title and two Taca da Liga s during his four years at Benfica.

There were two reasons for Marseille fans to celebrate on Tuesday as Dimitri Payet made his first appearance since returning to the club in a 2-1 victory over Lyon in the Coupe de France.
Payet engineered a £25million move back to the Stade Velodrome having only left to join West Ham in 2015, his departure from London Stadium coming in acrimonious circumstances.
The deal was completed on Sunday and the 2016 Ballon d Or nominee was named among Rudi Garcia s substitutes for the visit of Lyon.
Supporters chanted Payet s name before kick-off, and within 24 minutes they had another reason to cheer when Rod Fanni headed in Maxime Lopez s free-kick.
